control of Poland The United States said Soviet led Warsaw Pact troops were in height ened readiness to intervene Washington called the situation Radio Moscow and the Soviet newspaper Pravda in a report from Warsaw said the situation in Poland has not improved despite the cancel lation of a general strike It said right wirig forces at the Solidarity union are continuing their struggle against the party and the state Now it is not so much pressure on government but rather a struggle for correspondent said the Polish people were "voicing great concern over developments in th country at mass Democrats pro tested but the Senate Budget Com mittee placed the cut in the bill Tsongas said he and US Sen Don ald Riegle Mich who was to cosponsor the amendment with Tsongas began to rethink their plan Tuesday after the failure of a Repub lican sponsored amendment that would have restored the full $300 million for UDAG Tsongas said in an interview Thursday that they even tually decided they needed con trol the So he and Riegle spoke on the Senate floor Thursday afternoon about the merits of UDAG but they call for a vote And aides said Reagan had planned to announce formation of a task
