PIERRE - Ole Newman, 75, Pierre, died Sunday, Sept. 15, 2002, atSt. Mary's Hospital in Pierre.

Survivors include his wife, Donna Newman, Pierre; three sons,David Newman, Billings, Mont., Stanley Newman, Pierre, and BradleyNewman, Bismarck, N.D.; two daughters, Sherrie Sundin, Cheyenne,Wyo., and Brenda Kraft, Beulah, N.D.; 14 grandchildren; fivegreat-grandchildren; and one sister, Sharlee Lerew.

Visitation will be from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. today, with a 7 p.m.Masonic and Eastern Star service, at Feigum Funeral Home inPierre.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 19, at LutheranMemorial Church in Pierre.

Burial will follow at 2 p.m. at Black Hills National Cemeterynear Sturgis.

Marlys J. Kistner

DECATUR, Ill. - Maryls J. Kistner, 58, Decatur, died Saturday,Sept. 14, 2002, at the Decatur Memorial Hospital.

Marlys was born Sept. 8, 1944, in Rapid City, S.D., the daughterof Clarence A. Anderson Sr. and Eathel Anderson.

She married Andreas Kistner Jr. on July 4, 2000, in Rapid City.She was employed as a computer entry clerk for Norrell TemporaryServices for several years.

Survivors include her husband, Andreas Kistner, Decatur; hermother, Eathel Anderson, Rapid City; and one sister, CharlotteHill, Rapid City.

She was preceded in death by her father and two brothers.

Visitation will be from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. Friday, Sept. 20, atthe Brintlinger and Earl Funeral Home in Decatur.

Services will follow at 7 p.m. at the funeral home.

Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society.

Isabelle Hodges

MILLERSBURG, Ohio - Isabelle Hodges, 84, Millersburg andformerly of Belle Fourche, S.D., died Monday, Sept. 16, 2002, atCastle Nursing Home - Terrace View in Millersburg.

Survivors include one son, Raymond Hodges, Warsaw, Ohio; onegrandson; two step-grandchildren; three step-great-grandsons; twobrothers, Donald Neidert, Stevenson, Wash., and Mike Neidert, SaltLake City; and one sister, Mary Smith, Sioux Falls, S.D.

Graveside services will be at 1 p.m. Friday, Sept. 20, at PineSlope Cemetery in Belle Fourche, S.D., with the Rev. Harry Giffenofficiating.

Memorials may be made to Roscoe United Methodist Church, 475High Street, Coshocton, Ohio, 43812.

Funeral Home of The Northern Hills in Belle Fourche is in chargeof arrangements.

Inga C. Blair

MILESVILLE - Inga C. Blair, 88, Milesville, died Tuesday, Sept.17, 2002, at Hans P. Peterson Memorial Hospital.

Survivors include her husband, Bob Blair, Milesville; two sons,James Blair and Kelly Blair, both of Milesville; one daughter,Sandra Gittings, Philip; eight grandchildren; sevengreat-great-grandchildren; two brothers, Carl Olson, Brookings,Ore., and Clarence Olson, San Bernardino, Calif.; and two sisters,Emma Renner, Portland, Ore., and Ruby Wallin, Eatonville, Wash.

Arrangements are pending with Rush Funeral Home in Philip.

Ayda Amundson

RAPID CITY - Ayda Amundson, 97, Rapid City, died Friday, Sept.13, 2002, at her home.

She was born Sept. 10, 1905, to Annie (Pedersen) and OscarKallestad at Oakes, N.D. She married John Amundson at Mobridge, onApril 20, 1928. They had two daughters, Joan and Marji. Ayda led avery full and active life. She taught school for 32 years andreceived a B.S. Degree from Spearfish S.D. in 1957. She loved totravel. Her travels took her to many places in the United Statesand to Jerusalem, the Scandinavian Countries, China, Hawaii and theCaribbean Islands.

Loved ones left behind are one daughter, Marji Fordyce of RapidCity; 6 grandchildren, Linda Wortman of Rapid City, Pam Strum ofSioux Falls, Mark Wortman of Rapid City, Nance Teal of Rapid City,Rich Fordyce of Flagstaff, AZ, and Lisa Kasuske of Rapid City; 12grandchildren, Ryan, Nikol, Brian, Brad, Kim, Adam, Samantha,Colton, Cayden, Taya, Kaitlyn and Bryttni. She is also survived byher special friend, Tony Sanders.

Ayda was preceded in death by her daughter, Joan Wortman onAugust 26, 1992, and her husband John on March 17, 1978.

Visitation will be from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Friday Sept. 20, 2002,at Kirk Funeral Home.

Services will be at 1 p.m. Friday at the funeral home, withPastor Al Jacobson officiating.

Esther L. Palczewski

LUDLOW - Esther L. Palczewski, 73, Ludlow, died Saturday, Sept.14, 2002, at Med Center One in Bismarck, N.D.

Survivors include her husband, Carl Palczewski, Ludlow; threesons, Joseph Palczewski, Dinero, Texas, Paul Palczewski, Reeder,N.D., and Christopher Palczewski, Bowman, N.D.; five daughters,Patricia Nyberg, Los Gatos, Calif., Jackie Gregory, Maricopa,Calif., Vickie Hyke, St. Paul, Minn., Lori Reisenauer, Bowman, andSherri Soehren, Casper, Wyo.; three sisters, Gloria Maliscke,Ralph, and Fern Giannonatti and Dixie Smith, both of Ludlow; fourbrothers, Wayne Welch and Mickey Welch, both of Ludlow, Russ Welch,Osage, Wyo., and Charles Welch, Bowman; and 19 grandchildren.

A rosary will be at 7 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 19, at St. CharlesCatholic Church in Bowman.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Friday, Sept. 20, at the church,with the Rev. Andrew Morvey and the Rev. Jeff Zwack officiating.Burial will follow at Sacred Heart Catholic Cemetery in Scranton,N.D.

Carla Joan Rydquist

RAPID CITY - Carla Joan Rydquist, 60, Rapid City, passed away ather home on Sunday, September 15.

She was born on January 29, 1942, in Scobey, Mont., to Ronaldand Lynn Gray. Her father was an engineer with the Montana HighwayDepartment and the Army Corps of Engineers, and they lived invarious towns in Eastern Montana, New Jersey, and Washington statewhile growing up. She graduated high school from Edmonds HighSchool, near Seattle, and was active in Rainbow and Lutheranactivities.

While attending college at Montana State University, she metDavid Rydquist, and they were married on August 10, 1963, inLancaster, Calif. They resided in Helena, Mont., where their threechildren were born. During 39 years of marriage, they lived in manyareas of the country, including Billings, Mont.; Santa Fe, N.M.;Amarillo, Texas; Los Angeles, Calif.; and El Paso, Texas, beforesettling in Rapid City in 1983. She loved to travel, and developedlifetime friends in the numerous places she called home.

Carla was a free spirit and creative in the arts. She loved tomeet people and had an infectious personality that made people feelcomfortable. Her greatest pride and joy was being a mother and agrandmother.

Survivors include her husband, David Rydquist of Rapid City;son, Todd Rydquist and wife Susan, grandsons Eric and Grant ofBillings, Mont.; daughter, Jill White and husband Jay,granddaughters Rylee and Delanee of Pittsburgh, Pa.; son, JamesRydquist of San Diego, Calif., grandchildren Nick, Shauri, andBrandon Foster of Rapid City; and sister, Diana Koon and husbandWilliam of Helena, Mont.; nephew Chad Koon, wife Deena, andgrandniece Ryan of Salt Lake City; niece Dana Koon of Venice,Calif.

Memorial services will be at 11 a.m. Friday, Sept. 20, at theOsheim-Catron Funeral Home in Rapid City, with the Rev. DwightStensgaard officiating.

Emily Rose Styles-Lohmiller

RAPID CITY - Emily Rose Styles-Lohmiller, Rapid City, diedMonday, Sept. 16, 2002, at Presbyterian St. Luke's Hospital inDenver.

Survivors include her parents, Robert Styles and Lisa Lohmiller,Rapid City; one brother, Sheldon Ryan Erickson, Rapid City;grandparents Rebecca Formanek, Rapid City, Alan Lohmiller, RapidCity, and Jim and Karen Hoyt, Chamberlain; andgreat-grandparents.

Visitation will be from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 19, atBehrens Mortuary.

Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. Friday, Sept. 20, atMountain View Cemetery, with the Rev. Bruce Baum officiating.

Behrens Mortuary is in charge of arrangements.

Dwane 'Duke' Watson

CARLISLE, Pa. - Ret. Col. Dwane "Duke" Charles Watson, 69,Carlisle, died Monday, Sept. 16, 2002, in the Carlisle RegionalMedical Center.

Born June 9, 1933, in Sioux Falls, S.D., he was the son of thelate Everett C. and Frances Pettit Watson.

He was a U.S. Army Colonel (Retired) who served his country for30 years. Among his career highlights were his two tours in Vietnamas an Army Aviator, Command of the 55th AVN Bn at Fort Hood, Texas,and nine years as a faculty member in the Department of Command,Leadership and Management at the U.S. Army War College, Carlisle,where he was honored as a Distinguished Fellow. He was also theoriginal recipient of the Gen. Matthew B. Ridgeway Chair ofLeadership, and a member of the Assoc. of the U.S. Army and theDisabled American Veterans. Among his many awards are the Legion ofMerit with Oak Leaf Cluster, Distinguished Flying Cross with OakLeaf Cluster, Bronze Star with Valor Device and Oak Leaf Cluster,Meritorious Service Medal with two Oak Leaf Clusters, 37 Air Medalswith Valor Device and the Army Commendation Medal with two Oak LeafClusters. He was a member of the U.S. Army War College MemorialChapel in Carlisle.

He is survived by his wife of 47 years, DeElda Watson; threesons, DeLane C., Denver, Colo., Daryl C., Bradford, Pa., and Maj.Dale E., U.S. Army, Germany; one daughter, Denise M. Watson,Denver; one brother, Richard L., Colorado Springs, Colo.; 10grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

A memorial service will be at 11 a.m. Friday, Sept. 20, at theU.S. Army War College Memorial Chapel in Carlisle, with theChaplain LTC Sonny Morre officiating. Burial will be at 1 p.m.Monday, Sept. 23, at the Black Hills National Cemetery nearSturgis.
